Another aspect of Web 2.0 explained – mashups

For those of us who understand technology but still need some things explained in words of a few syllables, the concept of mashups has been somewhat confusing. I realise its something to do with joining or merging information from diverse sources, but how it is done has eluded me.

Fortunately, I was pointed to a blog which has a comparison of Yahoo Pipes, Microsoft Popfly and Google GMasheD. Before now I had never heard of any of these applications. They seem to be a new breed of applications for building mashups.

The blog describes how mashups could work, and explains the differences between blog feeds, RSS readers and these tools.
